Philip Graves

2005 - Helicopter to Glacier and Sled Dogs.

Did this trip with Coastal Helicopters, arranged over Internet in advance, saved $40 per person over cruise ship price. It was our first time in a helicopter. Flew up to Godwin Glacier, disembarked at Sled Dog camp. Some of the dogs had run in the Iditarod, they take them up to the glacier to get work in the summer (and to attract tourists!) They had some 10 day old puppies among about 100 other dogs. Riding the sled was great, a unique experience. Flew back down over Mendenhall Glacier. A lot of fun - is it worth the money ($395) I would say yes - for a once in a lifetime experience.
