Sitka
Dennis Margel
The
ship stopped here both weeks. The first week, we were anchored off shore
and had to tender in to Sitka. It is a quaint little town with a couple
of scenic spots -- a Russian Orthodox Church and Baranof's Castle. The
church was interesting but there wasn't much left of the castle. The
castle did provide a nice picture taking opportunity with the Statendam
sitting offshore. There is some shopping but we didn't do much. The
second week, the ship anchored off shore and we didn't bother getting
off. The ship had a variety of shore excursions ranging in price from $19
to $159. There were land tours, boat tours, biking, and fishing trips.
